Burn This starring John Malkovich, Joan Allen, Lou Liberatore and Jonathan Hogan began at the Mark Taper Forum then moved to Off-Broadway with the Circle Repertory Company at Theatre 890 (the Michael Bennett Theatre below 890 Broadway – now a Loews multiplex). Gary understudied the role of Larry, Anna’s roommate (played by Lou Liberatore). The production was one of the hottest tickets in town with multiple extensions (with Cotter Smith replacing John when he left to shoot a film). After a few months off Burn This resumed in Chicago then moved to Broadway (where Joan won the Tony for Best Actress).
